Lori: (Key Accounts, Corporate Gifting and Fundraising) Lori has been a part of Poppy in both big and small ways since the very beginning. She works closely with our sales reps and is involved in all our key accounts. She makes sure corporate orders go out without a hitch, and expertly handles fundraising orders as well. Lori loves working with our customers, and they love her too! She builds great relationships that keep them coming back. Lori loves spending time with her two boys, listening to live music, and travels as much as she can.
Kate: (Operations Manager) Kate oversees all things Poppy. From sourcing the highest quality ingredients, to ordering shipping labels and scheduling everyone’s hours, Kate gets it done and keeps us laughing as she does it. We are so thankful she came to work here, and we honestly can’t imagine what we would do without her. Kate’s favorite things to do when she’s not at work are biking the VA Creeper Trail with her husband and daughter, drinking a very unfancy cocktail, and driving around Asheville looking at Open Houses.
Hugh: (Director of Development and Human Resources) Hugh is our go-to guy when it comes to building and fixing. He has been instrumental in the build out of our retail location, our production facility and our gorgeous trade show booths. Hugh is also our Director of Human Resources and keeps our rapidly growing team playing nicely with one another. Hugh has 2 adult kids that he’s crazy about. He loves good music, good design and good food.
Jen: (Quality Control and Packaging Lead) If Jen were a Poppy popcorn flavor, she’d be the sweetest one we sell. Jen is a true southerner and we couldn’t love her more. Jen makes sure our popcorn is packaged perfectly. She won’t let a single flawed piece of corn enter a bag, so you always get the freshest, most delicious bag of popcorn. Jen is an accomplished actress and has starred in two Dolly Parton movies. Her favorite spot on earth is Vieques, Puerto Rico.
Jacob: (Assistant Production Manager) Jacob assists Courtney in production management, pulling and processing orders and ensuring they arrive when and where they’re supposed to. More often than not, if it’s a wholesale service issue you’re calling about, that bright voice and smile you can hear will be him. Jacob loves music, dancing, writing poetry and antiquing. He’s just so Asheville.
Sarah: (Office Assistant) Sarah is our popcorn diva. She has worked in our retail store, the production facility, and just about everywhere a person can work at Poppy. As our customer service guru and assistant to the office staff, Sarah is the first point of contact should you give us a call. A self-proclaimed make-up junkie with a passion for people, she loves talking about anything under the sun, with anyone who will listen.
Michael: (Kitchen Manager-Production Facility) Michael is our “Popcorn Chef” and hails from Black Mountain, North Carolina. If it’s a new, amazing flavor you’re munching on, chances are Michael was the mastermind behind it. As kitchen manager, he keeps the popcorn popping around the clock, ensuring that each flavor is popped to perfection. He also works closely with the production crew, making sure all flavors are in stock and ready for shipment. Michael is a cycling enthusiast and wants to remind everyone to share the road. He does not, however, like to share his Poppy.
Dorrie: (Inside Sales) Dorrie oversees Poppy’s customer relationship management (CRM) platform and makes sure that we are in good communication with all of our customers. She is thrilled to be working with such a fun, smart and energetic team at Poppy, and is enjoying the perks of eating the popcorn that doesn’t make it through quality control. When she is not eating popcorn, Dorrie loves to hike with her two kids and their dog.
